Graduate Service Assistantships

The Office of Compliance and Risk Management (OCRM) is responsible for administering the University's compliance, safety, risk management, and insurance programs. OCRM provides leadership and university-wide collaboration that strengthens accountability, proactively and cooperatively manages significant risks, upholds a safe and healthy campus environment, and promotes and assists in compliance with federal and state law.

Nature of Work

This position supports the University’s risk and compliance functions through general office, administrative, operational, analytical, and research duties, with a strong emphasis on data management, process automation, and data visualization. Work involves maintaining and improving OCRM’s databases, automating processes to improve efficiency, and developing dashboards or visual tools that support decision-making, reporting, and policy development.


Minimum Qualifications

Graduate Service Assistantship

  • Graduate student pursuing a degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field.

  • Experience working in an office environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.


Additional Qualifications Desired

  • Experience with database management systems, workflow/process automation tools, and data visualization platforms such as Tableau or Microsoft Power BI.

  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Office and other productivity tools.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.


Appointment Details

Graduate Service Assistantship

  • Appointment for the 2025–2026 academic year (August 2025 – May 2026) - Optional May 2025 Start Date if enrolled in the Summer Semester. 

  • Includes a stipend of at least $13,200, with possible adjustments based on experience.

  • Full tuition remission is included as part of the standard MSU graduate assistantship benefits.

  • Spring and Summer 2025 transitional hourly employment also available.


All OCRM personnel are expected to conduct themselves professionally and courteously, fulfill their responsibilities in alignment with their role, and comply with all Mississippi State University policies and procedures.

Preference will be given to Graduate Assistant applications submitted before May 30, 2025.
